About
My name is Oloruntosin Renyke Damyete Fashanu — and I was pronounced dead on November 15, 2017. I didn't go quietly. After multiple organ failure, I spent months in a coma, on a ventilator, and on ECMO — a machine that breathed for me when my own body couldn't. My family held vigils. My community raised funds. My God held the line. I came back. Today I am a proud mom, a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), a systems thinker, and a survivor who refuses to let her second chance go to waste. I live in the DMV region, I operate in faith, and I believe with everything I have that there is life — real, purposeful, abundant life — after life support. This book is not a medical memoir. It is a blueprint for anyone who has had to rebuild: their body, their identity, their family, their purpose. It is for every ICU room where someone is fighting to breathe. It is for every family pacing a hallway at midnight. And it is for every survivor who made it out but doesn't yet know what to do with the life they were given back. Welcome to Hope After Life Support. Proposed Title: Renyke: A Second Chance at Life Subtitle: How I Died, Came Back, and Built a Life Worth Living Alternatively: Hope After Life Support: My ECMO Survival Story and the Roadmap Back to Yourself 100 Days: Surviving the Machine, Reclaiming My Life Suggested Chapter Spine Before the Fall — Who I was before November 15, 2017; life, identity, ambition The Machine — What ECMO is; what my family faced; what I cannot remember but have been told Our Mother Is Gold — The family that fought for me: faith, community, the GoFundMe campaign Renyke Lives — First public testimony; waking up to a changed world The Rebuilding — How a PMP thinks about recovering a life; structure when everything is broken Mom After the Storm — Raising children in the shadow (and light) of your own near-death Purpose, Not Survival — What second chances demand of you A Blueprint for Others — Framework for survivors
